ACCESS TO IMPROVED DRINKING WATER
About half of the population living in Nigeria is projected to have a lack access to improved drinking water sources in their homes or on the premises, with the task of water collection falling mostly on the shoulders of women.
The states are ranked by the projections of the population that do not to have access to improved drinking water on their premises. Many of the states’ utility service struggle from lack of funding and mismanagement to meet the demands of the local population. In Lagos alone, only one in ten people are served by Lagos Water Corporation, the utility charged with providing improved drinking water to Lagosians.
