Education is one of the fundamental human rights and an essential tool for achieving sustainable development. As an investment in human capital, it confers benefits to both individuals and societies, allowing them to reach their fullest potential.

Education is essential for closing the gap between women and men in respect to social and economic opportunities and is a key to empowering women and allowing them to become agents of change in economic, social and political spheres.

Education also improves women’s chances of leading a healthy life and passing on the benefits to future generations.

We took a look at the educational outcomes in each of the state and the level of participation of the female population in getting an education to determine how effectively the state governments are working towards helping women achieve their potential. The state with the best intervetions in 2015 is ranked 1, and the worst ranked 37.
