POSTNATAL CARE
It is recommended that all women receive a health check within three days of giving birth. The postpartum period is particularly important because during this period they may develop serious, life-threatening complications, especially in the interval immediately after delivery. There is evidence that a large proportion of maternal and neonatal deaths occur during the first 48 hours after delivery. Postnatal care visits provide an ideal opportunity to educate a new mother on how to care for herself and her newborn baby.
