ADULT FEMALE LITERACY
The ability to read and write is an important personal asset, increasing an individual’s opportunities in life. There are differences in literacy across zones, with literacy levels being highest among women in the South East states and lowest among those in the North West. Ninety percent or more of women in Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ekiti, and Osun are literate. On the other hand, only 15 percent of women or less in Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara are literate. Men in general were more likely to be literate nationally.
